Big Wig

It's been a week now since I've moved to NYC. I love it here, even if most of my days have been spent sitting at the house, looking for jobs online and doing house chores. It's nice to have a chance to relax. Here's a summary of what has gone on in the past week or so.

- My first day in the city, Mike and I went to Ikea and spent $100 dollars on things for the house. I bought myself a set of martini glasses which are smaller than the glasses I'm used to at home. Those glasses hold about an ounce more liquid than these. My roommates are however enjoying the fact that I'm overpouring my drinks and they get refills. After dropping our Ikea goodies at home, we went to Queens to visit Dario and Justin. I met their roommates, and I determined that I could sit in their living room and listen to them all talk, and laugh all night long without saying a single word.

- I cleaned the bathroom. Sharon told me she would bake me a cake.

- I figured out how to make the washing machine work on my own. I did some laundry and organized my and Mike's clothes.

- I've spent about 3 to 4 hours a day on Craigslist.com watching the "arts/media/design" update, and applying to every photography or retouching related job that appears. I've received no word back on any. I met with a photographer that I found his name through Madison Square Gardens website, and he gave me a bunch of ideas and places to get a hold of.

- I spoke to my mom every day on the phone about miscellaneous things. I panicked on Wednesday when 7:00 rolled around and she wasn't picking up the phone. I had my dinner and drink ready, prepared for Ghost Hunters and Family Night and was thrown off when I couldn't ask my mom if she was having her drink and what she thought of the rerun that was airing at the moment. At around 8:00, I called again and she picked up. Turns out she had been on the phone with her sister. She had her drink in hand and was excited to see where the GHI team was going in Denmark.

- Mike got a weekly on Monday nights at a cute little club in Queens. It's at a night called "CineMondays", where filmmakers come and screen some films, and then people stay, listen to some music, hang out with friends and have a drink or two. Or four or five in our case last night. Dario, Ayberk, NK, Mike and I all went out and had a great time. The bass was so intense in that place that it actually shook a martini glass off a table. We'll be back again on Monday, hopefully with a few more in tow. And hopefully followed up by the awesome mac and cheese that Dario made back at his place.

- I went home this past weekend. I photographed a bat mitzvah on Saturday for Brian Ambrose and had a bunch of appointments to go to on Monday. It was different being back in CT after spending a chunk of time in the city. I know what my brother and Mike feel like when they come home. I visited Plan B for lunch with Kat, and most peoples reaction to seeing me there was "That didn't take long".

That's just in a few days. Not too shabby, I think. Currently, I am sitting on the couch, watching Bad Girls Club with my roommates. Mike should be home soon.

Here's to what comes up next. Cheers.
